Goals and Objectives

I. Advocacy

CAO will be the primary voice for its members by advocating changes in laws, regulations and business practices that affect their practices.

1. Advocate for accessible orthodontic care for all California residents
2. Advocate for CAO membership to influence state and local regulatory and legislative issues
3. Build relationships and strengthen influence within state and, local and national dental professional organizations and insurance administrators
4. Maximize CAO exposure and knowledge of political/legislative and regulatory processes
5. CAO members strive to provide high quality care

II. Education

CAO members and their staffs will receive high quality, state-of-the-art educational programs that contribute to members’ ability to have successful practices.

1. Develop and provide educational opportunities congruent with the members' needs and desires balanced with the organization's fiscal management
2. Provide alternative methods of educational opportunities

III. Membership

CAO members will receive excellent service and value from the organization

1. Maintain ongoing awareness of member needs and external influences
(Note: External influences mean public, general dentists, demographics, vendors, futurists forecast of change, etc.)
2. Increase and enhance effectiveness of communications, particularly related to perceived value of CAO services
3. Enhance effectiveness of Peer Review process for the mutual benefit for our members and their patients
4. Consider establishing a study club resource for members

IV. Organization

CAO will be a well-managed and governed organization that is financially secure.

1. Maintain strong financial position
2. Develop a diversely balanced leadership
3. Utilize appropriate technological capability to meet number associations needs to the benefit of the members
4. Assure effective support staff for CAO programs
5. Develop and maintain effective volunteers and leaders
6. Develop, monitor, and evaluate a strategic plan
7. Align Board policies to ensure a high level of congruence with the Strategic Plan
