Corticision – A Minimally Invasive Procedure to Accelerate Tooth Movement

The usual rate of tooth movement by conventional protocols of mechanotherapy is approximately 1 mm/month. The ‘corticision’ method signifies a minimally invasive peri-orthodontic procedure, without flap elevation, which accelerates tooth movement with enhanced turnover rate of surrounding structures. This procedure is clinically expedient with a sound biologic foundation, renders more stable orthodontic outcomes and is less prone to complications than traditional approaches.

This lecture will present evidence that minor surgical procedures by orthodontists can achieve accelerated rates of tooth movement with impunity. It will introduce a novel system that enhances the rate of bone and periodontal response, thereby shortening the duration of treatment.

Meeting Registration Fees:

• Fees are $100 for all PCSO active, life active, affiliate and associate members.
• Fees are $100 for all administrative and clinical staff.
• Fees are $100 for all Non-PCSO members.
• Fees are $50 for all PCSO retired members.
• Fees are $15 for PCSO orthodontic residents and students
• Cancellation must be received by the date of the meeting in order to receive a refund. A fee of $10 for each person canceling will be withheld from the total amount refunded.
