Tips and Tools

The California Association of Orthodontists (CAO) Web site is designed to make news, resources and connections related to orthodontics in California easily accessible to CAO members.

This page lists tips and suggestions for navigation below.

Other pages in this section contain a site map, links to the sites of other organizations and other resources for CAO members.

Search

To search for information on the CAO site, enter a word or phrase into the text box below "Search" at the top of the "Connections" section on the right of each page and click "Search."

For the Public and Non-Members

See the bottom of the gray box at the right for links to information for non-members which is available from the public Web site of the American Association of Orthodontists: braces.org.

Tips for Navigation:

Generally, all pages of the CAO site are divided into five sections:

Navigation/Primary Content

Links to the main sections of the CAO Web site appear at the top and are repeated at the bottom of all pages. The main way to get around the site is to follow these links.

The horizontal blue bar contains links to the primary sections of content on the site.

Primary Functions

The links in red to the right above the horizontal bar at the top and below it at the bottom are links to primary functions of the site or connections for CAO members.

News

The third section, news and information, is on the left side of each page, below the navigation bar. The title of the section you are in appears in a dark blue bar (e.g.,. "Find" above), with the page title (e.g., "How To Locate Information and Resources on the CAO Web Site and Beyond" above) below it.

Below that are news and information items relevant to that section of the site.

Resources

Resources relevant to the section of the site and subsections or pages within the section are listed in the light gray box underneath the title that is outlined in black.

The gray boxes are designed for navigation within a section of the site (e.g., the gray box above shows the contents and resources available in the "Find" section.)

Connections

The fifth section of each page is the "Connections" column on the right, which includes a Search function and other functions or ways for CAO members to participate in and interact with CAO and with other members.

Some of these "Connections" may be specific to the page you are on, but most apply to the whole site, and some may connect members to the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics (PCSO) or American Association of Orthodontics (AAO).

Other Links on Each Page

Also at the bottom of each page are blue links to the Terms of Use of the CAO website and CAO's Privacy Policy.

The link from the "California Association of Orthodontists" in the copyright notice at the bottom of each page takes you to information on how to contact the CAO.

Clicking on the CAO logo at the top or bottom of a page will take you back to the home page.

News, News and More News

The CAO website is designed to emulate a news Web site, with the latest news briefs at the top of the home page and news headlines from each of the major sections (e.g., Meetings and Education, Insurance) below that.

The home page for each of the main section has headlines at the top, linked to the main news stories for that section lower down on the page. Longer items are continued on separate pages.

There's also a news page, which has headlines and news briefs from the top news items collected from all of the sections.

So you will find latest news at the top of the home pages, other recent and important news briefs on the news page and more detailed stories within each section.

If that's not enough news for you, you can also download the latest issue of the California Orthodontist or previous issues from the archives.

Resources

Key resources for orthodontic practice in California are listed in the gray box on the home page labeled "Resources." Resources relevant to the content sections (e.g., Insurance) are listed in the gray boxes on each page of that section.

See the resources page for a listing or all resources on the site and the links page for links to other orthodontic, dental and related organizations.
